Checking things off the LIST
We are excited to share that we are a few steps closer to completing our homestudy. We now have 12 hours of online parent/adoption training completed; where we learned about the climate of adoption in China, healthy attachment, and talking to our child about her adoption, among other topics. We have our last homestudy interview on Monday, and then it’s on to collecting the necessary paper-work for our dossier.
Our dossier is a fancy word for the compilation of documents to be sent to China related to our adoption.
A Dossier includes the following:
Adoption Petition to China, Marriage and Birth Certificates, Employments Verifications, Financial Statements, Physical Exams, Police Clearance reports, Immigration clearances, a completed HomeStudy, 12 family pictures, passport copies and additional agency and Chinese government fees.
HERE WE GO!
Once we have these things they all need to be notarized, certified by the secretary of state and authenticated by the Chinese consulate in Chicago. Taking care of all this paper-work will be my job for the next 2-3 months. Well, this and sending Quinn off to 1st grade…sniff, sniff. And Alby to preschool every morning, oh my. But, once I’m done shedding my new school year tears, I anticipate I will have lots of energy to devote to the dossier building process. Pray us on.
Just for fun, here is a picture of me with a dear little girl, from my visit to a Chinese orphanage in the Summer of 2000. Can’t believe that was 12 years ago.
